Prof. Paul Sobotka

Paul Alan Sobotka, M.D., F.A.C.P., F.A.C.C. F.A.H.A , currently a Venture Partner in stealth venture company focusing on early stage company, matriculated from Stanford University with degree in Chemistry and obtained MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He completed training in Internal Medicine at The University of Michigan, followed by specialty training in Cardiovascular Diseases at Northwestern University. Further education has been completed in health care economics and policy at the Harvard School of Public Health and Wharton School of Economics. Promoted with tenure in Medicine and Physiology at Loyola University in Maywood Il, where he was designated AOA faculty, directing intensive care clinical services and participated in the heart failure and transplant programs; subsequently faculty at Wayne State University School of Medicine where he served as Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine followed by Chief Medical officer of Trinity Health Care, St Mary Hospital Livonia MI. He has previously been Chief Medical Officer of Ardian, Inc (exit to Medtronic 2012), CHF Solutions Inc. (exit to Baxter 2003), Chief Science Officer Rox Medical, Inc. (exit to Edward Life Science 2019), founder of Advanced Heuristics (exit to HP 1997), Medical Advisor at Medtronic Inc., Executive Medical Director Merck, Inc. and Entrepreneur in Residence, The White House, assigned to the Food and Drug Administration.


He currently holds an appointment as Clinical Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at The Ohio State University. Dr. Sobotka has authored 200 peer reviewed manuscripts and book chapters including manuscripts published in: The Journal Clinical Investigation, American Journal of Physiology, The New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Circulation, Circulation Heart Failure, Journal of Congestive Failure, Hypertension, Journal of Hypertension, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, Journal of Congestive Failure, and the National Enquirer. His current research and clinical interests include the interaction of arterial compliance and venous capacitance in the pathology of congestion, regulation of splanchnic blood flow and capacitance, and hypertension, as well as neurosympathetic control of volume and blood pressure.
